Analyzing The Princess Diaries

Any agreement or thoughts? Domain: Psychology. Goal: Becoming (a princess). Consequence: Obtaining (losing Genovia as we know it). Driver: Decision (Mia consistently decides to postpone the final decision until the Inaugural Ball when she decides to return and accept becoming a princess). Perhaps the Requirement is Playing a Role or Conceiving an Idea.

Is this MC domain or OS domain of Psychology?

Oh, sorry. I mean OS domain because the signposts of “Becoming a princess” and “Conceiving the idea that you’re descended from royalty” and even perhaps “Conceptualizing how your life can continue since word gets out of who you really are” seemed clear.

What is the MC domain?

That would depend on whether Mia must rise to the occasion or stop doing some behavior. It seems as though she rises to the occasion, so that puts her in Situation. She’s royal by birth and her identity is not what she expected. That does sound like an external situation she’s stuck in. Who’s the IC, though? Joe seems a sidekick. Her grandmother seems a Guardian. Lily might be an uncontrolled type of skeptic. Is that possible?

The guy she’s attracted to doesn’t really seem to be an alternative viewpoint. For IC, maybe it’s the grandmother or her direct mother. The guy she winds up with at the Ball could be slightly, but he doesn’t play much of a role at all.

MC domain Situation gives her a MC approach as a do-er, Fixed Attitude (Mind) gives her an approach as a be-er. Do you have a feeling whether she is a do-er or be-er? That would give a clue.

She’s definitely a Be-er. Mia doesn’t change her environs, her environs change her.

My hunch is that it is identical to Barefoot in the Park.
