Contests and Where to Find Them

I have a hard time motivating myself to write sometimes (all the time), but I find that I do much better when some type of contest is involved so that there is at least some potential for being paid albeit a slim one. Deadlines help too.

The most recent contest that I entered is here:

There are a few other contests that I know of that I’d be happy to share when I have more time (10 minutes until one of my online classes).

Although this contest allows for 55 hours, I had about 5 in all. I was just happy to have put my name in the hat.

Here’s a link to my story. I did even try to use a very basic application of Dramatica by using a quad.

This particular contest happens once a month, I believe. Anyone else have some recommended contests?

Here’s a second contest that I’ve entered a few times (no luck so far). The prize is a free class with Gotham Writer’s Workshop, and the best part is the fact that your story is 25 words or less and in the form of a tweet:

I should add, they have more than just the twitter sized contest:

There’s a pretty interesting 18 word story contest that I just entered (see my story here):

Thanks.
