MC vs OS Throughlines

I was thinking the same thing! (although I think Taken is missing that IC throughline, esp. towards the end?)

I don’t think I have much to add to @Lakis and @Gregolas’s great responses. However, I will commend you for your very insightful questions. I think you are currently on the steepest part of the learning curve, but soon it will get easier. Separating the throughlines is the hardest part to grasp (and sometimes it gives even the experts trouble)!

Yes. I created that story off the top of my head.
I actually thought I was going to involve Hawkeye, from the Avengers. That’s why I used the name “Clint.” Then, everything ended up sounding like Taken. shrug

Apparently more than the IC throughline, according to Jim:

“This film can only be qualified as a tale as there are a couple of key throughlines missing.”

“Contrast this [films with a solid MC throughline] with Taken or 9 or the critically-acclaimed Of Gods and Men. Neither of these films offers an emotional path into the story’s events. Sure, we care about the abduction of Liam Nesson’s daughter, but do we become emotionally invested? Not at all. … Taken offers a Catalyst that upsets the balance of things for Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson), yet the rest of the film becomes one mindless action scene after the next. No emotional development, no growth of character, no personal issues anywhere.”
