Ghostbusters 2016 provoked a significant reaction from fans of the 1984 classic.
The 2016 version is riddled with a comedic tone, whereas the 1984 version shifted between entertaining atmosphere to comedy to drama to information. By doing so, the original film gave audiences a broader scope of the story. I still maintain the plot was dramatic with comedic touches.
This is an effective use of Dramatica’s concept of Genre. Each throughline fits into a particular class. Within that class, it can shift, expressing an entertaining tone in one scene, comedy in another, and drama in yet another.
