Question about PSR'scenes

Dramatica PSR Report say: “In act one, ‘engaging in a physical activity’(Doing) is explored in terms of Investigation, Appraisal, Reappraisal, and Doubt…” and so on

I’m confused that under Doing is not Wisdom, Skill, Experience and Enlightenment…?
How does this work?

Hi @fly2spring .

It simply means that when you’re writing, you will write the scene variations out within the context of Doing.

The trick is in understanding the dynamics of the theory. The model twists like a Rubik’s cube as you go down towards the elements ( character part of the model ). This twisting occurs because of the inequity that has been introduced in your story. So the model is no longer at rest (equilibrium), and that’s why you don’t have the normal elements under Doing. The inequity is the cause of that. It initiated the shift the model of your new storymind.

So when writing you will now explore Doing by looking at the new elements as specified in the PSR (if you choose to use it).

Cheers.

There are good posts on this forum about PSR. A good way to distinguish how to use it, is…

The Signpost describes the outside view, e.g. a physical activity

The “in terms of” part describes the inside view from the character(s) perspective, e.g. how does it feel/look from within doing something in terms of e.g Investigation

Example Scene:
(Outside Doing) A detective runs through a suburb and interviews people in the street… (Inside view Investigation, from the detectives perspective) He needs to figure out how the crime could happen

if you do a search here for Plot Sequence Report or PSR you’ll find this question answered several times and in several different forms
