Short story prompt #1 - untitled

The Story
So I didn’t worry too much about writing a complete story that made sense. I mostly just tried to encode the four points. So if you try to read this as a single story, you’re going to have to fill in some huge gaps in the storytelling. To help you do that, know that the the storytelling was inspired by a show called I Shouldn’t Be Alive. If youve seen an episode, you’ll know what I was going for.

the Dramatica
In my attempt to make the source of conflict as easy to spot as possible, I fear I may have overdone it and made each section less about how each term is the source of conflict, and more just a general exploration of each term. And even then, I left out some stuff I meant to write that’s probably going to keep, say, effect from looking like effect. But I’m leaving it as is for now.

I went for Test, Cause,Trust, Effect.
Test - Going into the wilderness to test himself creates conflict between him and his wife.

Cause-probably was t particularly successful on this one. The idea was supposed to be that exposure to the elements were causing him to die. I don’t know that I really wrote it that way.

Trust-Again, maybe not so successful. Rusty’s trust in his master was supposed to create inner turmoil for him (I’ll mention now that the MC is only referred to by pronouns). Rusty’s trust prevents him from killing and eating Rusty, something to that effect.

Effect- probably the least effective. The idea was that the experience was supposed to have an effect on him that would keep him from going out into the wilderness again, a problem because he wasn’t done testing himself.

So that’s the ideas I was going for, but most of it I think sort of turned into something else. Probably need a rewrite just to get to that point. Anyway, here it is.
