# Updating the NCP status

According to Narrova I’ve completed my storyforming stage but my NCP status still shows as candidate (Claude pointed this out to me when I was testing out the MCP connection, which was awesome). I asked Narrova to update my NCP, including the status, and got the following response:
_I attempted to change the NCP status from candidate to storyformed, and the notebook synchronized successfully, but validation still reports the status as candidate. I therefore can’t truthfully claim that the label changed._
I confirmed it’s still a candidate in the NCP download.

If at all possible, if you can “thumbs down” that response and then leave some feedback as to what’s going on - that can go a long way towards getting this tuned up faster.
I’ll still look into it from here - but the quickest way is through those specific feedback tools.

I found your issue.
The NCP (Narrative Context Protocol) is at an interesting flux point right now, especially with the new v3 where the Dramatica part is now a profile (as opposed to the ONLY thing that NCP is) - given you are bouncing back and forth between Claude and Narrova (glad its working!) - if you have a second, and don’t mind - if you could let us know your use case/intentions behind wanting to save to NCP from within Dramatica.
It would really help us craft something truly helpful.

I don’t have a well-defined use case, I’m more just playing around with the possibilities. I like structured data, so it seems like a handy way to get my data out of Dramatica and use it elsewhere. For example, brainstorming with Claude, or having Claude take that structured NCP data and re-write it into another format for use in another tool. The MCP connection to Claude probably gets me the same thing, but I have this biased feeling that structured JSON is more objective and reliable than the MCP queries (maybe that’s not true).
I don’t think I would ever try to bring NCP data back into Dramatica though. If I made significant changes to my story, I would then chat with Narrova about those changes to let it put them through the Dramatica checks and make sure everything still worked. Dramatica seems complex enough that I would want it to be the truth source.
That’s a long way of saying if you give me toys like NCP and MCP, I’ll look for something to do with them.
