SMGreenfield
Expert in the design and development of cutting edge, transformative tools for narrative and fiction writing, Stephen Greenfield is President of Write Brothers, Inc., the recognized world leader and acclaimed developer of award-winning software for writers.
Stephen’s experience combine a unique blend of entertainment and technology. His career in software engineering began at age 13 when he accidentally stumbled into a classified defense network project run by Case Western Reserve Institute of Technology for DARPA and was asked to work on (non-classified) word processing projects.
Fresh from obtaining a degree in cinema production from USCinema (now USC-SCA), Stephen worked briefly as a cinematographer on low-budget films, as well as shooting IMAX special effects. Stephen has co-written several feature screenplays, including one sold to Disney, starring Mickey Rooney. Little Spies was one of the highest-rated Disney Sunday Movies, and won the Genesis Award for the story’s portrayal of animal rights issues. Greenfield was then chosen to co-write the sequel to Disney’s Swiss Family Robinson, the studio’s second-highest grossing live action film.
Stephen co-founded Write Brothers, Inc. and with partner Chris Huntley developed the first screenplay formatter, winning the only Academy Award for developing a writing tool.
Stephen also was involved in the design, development and programming of Movie Magic Budgeting, Movie Magic Scheduling, Dramatica Pro, Writer’s DreamKit, StoryView, Word Menu and Movie Magic Screenwriter. Dramatica is a story creation and analysis tool based on the critically acclaimed Dramatica theory of story.
Prior to divesting their production tools to focus on writing and narrative, the Movie Magic series was the industry standard, used on 95% of produced films.
Stephen has worked on difficult cutting-edge problems, applying the Dramatica narrative technology to real-world narratives in national security, marketing, strategic planning, and public policy. Specific scenarios available on request.
He is presently working on connecting Write Brothers’ impressive narrative tools to AI (Narrova and Dramatica, at https://platform.dramatica.com/docs/ )
Stephen is a produced screenwriter and member of the Writer’s Guild of America.
