A question of definition

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding Dramatica’s definitions.

The problem everyone in my story is facing comes down to equating the character and actions of a parent with that of their children. No matter how different they might be from their parents/ancestors, they are always going to be seen as identical. The only element I can find which comes close to this is Equity. It feels like it should fit, however the exact definition doesn’t match up perfectly. My other guess is Projection, though I tend to see this as being more of a symptom than the problem itself. I don’t know…

Am I barking up the wrong tree, here? Is there an element I’ve overlooked which would fit better? I don’t want to run the risk of basing the rest of my choices on a false assumption.

Thank you.

Equity suggests a balance/fairness, and I don’t think it’s what you’re looking for.
I would look into the definitions of these Elements: Projection, Inertia, Theory/Hunch, Expectation/Determination, Reduction, Induction, Evaluation. See if anything comes close to what you want.

Have you made any other storyform decision already, like Domain, Concern, Issue? Do you have any ideas for MC, IC, RS?

Thanks, Bob!

Many of the definitions of the elements you posted seem like they could fit. I had previously overlooked the ones that fall outside of the upper-left of the chart: so Memories, Developing a Plan, Understanding and Past. If I’m going to stick with that set of concerns, I guess my best bet would be Projection.
