Thank you, Jim! Will be there.

Too bad I missed that one. I’ll have to wait until it comes out on home video. Good luck with the analysis.

I’ve heard it’s a great film.

There only seems to be a video broadcast option starting in three minutes. Is this where we should be?

go to google+ and click on the bell. There should be an invite to the actual hangout. It just started

I might make a case for the Overall story throughline being that all characters are involved in trying to figure out how they will cope with the past. It seems to me that how you define the story goal has a huge impact on character aspects.

If the Overall throughline (situation-past) is how each character deals with the past in moving into the future then:
Anna/Ida (Manipulation/Psychology-Conceptualizing) is a steadfast character because she retains her faith as a way of life. She is Steadfast/Start/Be-er/Holistic/Decision/Optionlock/Success/Good. She tries to reconcile her birth with the way she has lived the life she remembers. In the end, she rejects the three options presented to her by Wanda, Feliks and Lis and decides that the life she has been adopted into, which is one of selfless service in opposition to the selfish debauchery, greed and mindless tradition presented by the other 3 characters.

Wanda, as the IC (Activity-Doing) tries to make Anna/Ida reconsider how she will live her life and at the same time she changes from coping with the past by indulging present vices. When the IC confronts the past she is unable to continue living with it ( a big change). (Do you apply the 8 questions to the IC too?? if so then…) Change/Stop/Do-er/?/Action/Optionlock/Failure/Bad

The Relationship throughline (Fixed attitude-Conscious) is about the conscious decisions each of them makes to resolve either no memory or horrible memories. There is also something in there about seeing life from the other’s point of view which Anna/Ida attempts, and Wanda cannot.

Feliks deals with the past by trying to cover it up (bury it), and being afraid that the truth coming out will disturb his/family’s current way of life. His philosophy is “it happened” (deal with it) and the cost of getting the information you want is giving up the rights to your house and land. Ida doesn’t really want the home she never knew, though she is disgusted with him wanting it because of what he did to get it.

Lis presents a third alternative to future life: go to the seashore, buy a dog, get married, have a traditional life.

Protagonist/MC: Ida/Anna
Antagonist: Feliks
Guardian: God/Mother Superior/the statue in the round “grave”
Contagonist: Szymon, police constable
Reason: ? Wanda?
Emotion: Lis
Sidekick: ?
Skeptic: Wanda

Thank-you for maintaining this discussion board and providing your expertise, and please forgive the unintended offense.

What are you talking about? In the final analysis we concluded Success/Good. We never once considered the Story Judgment Bad and our tendency towards Failure had nothing to do with her returning to the convent. Are you on here simply to troll and create problems? If so your days are numbered.

Other than your attempt to falsely cast us as misogynists the rest of your analysis was good. No we don’t answer those questions for the Influence Character (since they are Main Character Dynamics) but we have often found that they are opposite from the MC. They don’t have to be.

My error. I must have misinterpreted some of the comments as I was fading out towards the end. I have removed all comments that offended you.

I want to be sure you know how helpful I think you have been in keeping these discussion pages responsive and helpful. It is very much appreciated, and thank-you.

Just watching this now. Apologies for the quality there was no internet, so I had to run it off my phone. I have no idea why the image is squashed, could be a similar reason.

Was everyone able to join? If so, for those who did join were you not able to talk? I noticed you guys were going off on the chat, but I didn’t have time to go through it.

We weren’t being heard. Sam & I were asking questions, but no one could hear us. :confounded: So we went on the chat to pass notes under our desks.

EDIT: Wait a second, you ran the whole thing off of your phone?! Holy cow!
