Is MC's resolve tied to characteristics?

Hi.

However I was wondering how MC’s resolve is related to the characteristics. You know, the grid (Motivation, Purpose, Evaluation, Methodology). Specifically to the dynamic pairs of the MC.

For example, in motivation using Archetypes:
MC - consider, IC - reconsider
MC - avoidance, IC - pursuit
Purpose:
MC - MC knowledge, IC thought.
and so on…

So the question is how (and if) the MC’s resolve, his change or steadfast should be linked to one or more of these dynamic pairs.
Should I try to, let’s say… for purpose, with an MC’s resolve of change, should this change be related to relying more in thought instead of knowledge about something? Would this kind of change be in only one dynamic pair or the more the better (now MC thinks, reconsiders, pursues, etc.)? In all dynamic pairs?

Or are they completely independent things?

Thanks for the answer, any examples would be nice.

This happens a lot with Dramatica…you’re trying to make connections and you’re seeing or looking for things that aren’t there. In short, completely independent.

It’s great to know it’s much simpler than what I was trying to do.

Thanks for such a quick reply.

Seriously though - it sounds like you were mixing up the Main Character Resolve with the Objective Story Character Elements presented in the Build Characters section of Dramatica. The first is a part of the Main Character Throughline, the latter a part of the Overall Story.
