Rearranging Scenes in the Scene List (Win 10)

G’day from Australia.

Newbie question.

I’m attempting to re-order the Scenes in my Scenes List, as per the instructions in the Level Three StoryGuide (V4.0 build 8 of Dramatica Pro). But when I move a Scene from one part of the list to another, very often the Scene doesn’t move at all. Sometimes a completely different scene from the one I’ve selected gets moved to the chosen spot. Only rarely does the Scene I want moved get moved to the correct spot. So rare that it is infuriating.

I’ve tried rearranging the Scenes on my Win 10 laptop, but kept stumbling up against this hurdle. So I moved to my big desktop (Win 10) to see if the problem replicates. It does.

I don’t have Camtasia so can’t take a screenshot for you. But I’ve uploaded a SnagIt video to YouTube: https://youtu.be/4Hs8XLvMzDc

Is there a workaround so that I can put my Scenes in the correct order and hit my Journeys and Signposts in the right spots?

Thanks,
Lee

I have a video of my laptop showing the same problem, but closer up: https://youtu.be/tY73h0me9Pc

I’ve not heard of this problem before, but I noticed in your second video that you can see it is grabbing the wrong one because the text of the scene you’re moving is displayed. I’ve not been able to reproduce it.

What version of Windows are you using?

My guess is that you have your screen at ‘normal’ resolution, which is probably too high for Dramatica Pro. What happens if you select a lower resolution display to make Dramatica display larger on your screen? It might make the target area for selection be more accurate.

If this works, I recognize that this is a poor solution for the problem, but until we have a Windows version of Dramatica Story Expert it may be the only way to work around the problem effectively.

Thanks for your reply, Chris. I use my laptop at 1366 x 768, so tried scaling back to 1024x768 and 800x600 (video: https://youtu.be/EO9F4g1Qtps).

As you can see from the video of the 800x600 the problem still replicates. It appears to select one scene but in actuality select the scene immediately under it.

There is also the issue of the screen refreshing itself and losing focus. That’s a bit of a pain, too.

Thanks for looking into this.

Should I be investigating buying a second-hand Mac laptop because a Windows version of DSE is still a way off? Also, how old can that Macbook purchase be? Is there a year or an operating system version that DSE won’t work with?

Thanks.

DSE 5.3 works with OSX 10.10 and higher.
