Resolve: Steadfast, Growth: Stop

I have a story template which has resolve: steadfast and growth: stop. Doesn’t growth: stop imply that some sort of change in the MC happens? Or, am I misunderstanding this? Does growth: stop mean that something in the environment (rather than something in the MC) is what stops?

Exactly. For a Steadfast MC, the Growth of Stop means they are holding out for something outside themselves to stop.

Although a Steadfast MC doesn’t Change their perspective or worldview*, they do still grow. In particular, they grow into their steadfast resolve. The difficult events of the story test that resolve, and in so doing, temper it.

* Note they can waver, even go so far as temporarily change their perspective, before changing back. That’s why for Resolve it’s important to compare the MC between the beginning and end of the story.

Dramatica terms are pretty specific. Growing is a change in general terminology, but is not the same kind of change you will find being described by Resolve. A Resolve of Change really just refers to the problem element. So one who is motivated by Pursuit and is treated like a joke by the other characters might hold out for others to stop dismissing his efforts and still be motivated by Pursuit.
