When self-aware is a RS problem, solution, symptom, or response, can "self" be "us"?

When it appears in the RS, could the “self” in “self-aware” be interpreted as “us”?

Should be able to, yeah. I generally translate “self” (in Self-Aware or Self-Interest) as “me and mine,” or “you and me against the world.”

Treat the Relationship as if it were a character.

Problem of Self-Aware — our marriage is too self-conscious, it’s as if we’re only together to show everyone else what a perfect marriage should be. That drive and self-importance overshadows the individuals and begins to breed contempt for one another.

Symptom of Self-Aware — we don’t spend enough time talking about our marriage and getting to know the purpose of why we came together in the first place. Let’s go to couples therapy so we can become more conscious of our bond and it’s purpose

The relationship has a purpose. It’s not an argument between two people, it’s a thing in and of itself.
