Pulp Fiction storyform: co-MCs Jules & Butch change

  1. I propose the influence character for co-MC Jules is Vincent/Pumpkin. “Normally, both your asses would be dead as… fried chicken, but…. I don’t wanna kill you, I wanna help you.”
  2. I’m less sure of Butch, but one idea is that the influence character for co-MC Butch is his father via Captain Koons. And/or Marsellus? Regardless, initially, he wants nothing more than to escape but later he stops at the pawn shop door and then goes back to save Marsellus.
  3. I’m unsure what part, if any, the chapter about Vincent and Mia plays. A side story? All-business “not a date” (logic? conscience?) Vincent changes by having feelings (temptation?) in his bathroom monologue later?
  4. In sum, I think significant parts of a storyform are there at least at a low “resolution.”

This would be a great one to re-visit.

As I recall, its incomplete “propaganda” (i.e., on purpose incomplete Storyform) - but it would be good to go over it again in a group setting.

I always had the feeling that there had to be more to it.

I never saw Jules as MC – he feels much more like a classic IC to me. But I could be convinced.

It’s been a while, but I would propose two storyforms:

  1. Vincent-MC, Jules/Mia IC handoff
  2. Butch-MC, Marcellus-IC

For the Vincent story, a Problem quad of Faith/Conscience/Temptation/Disbelief (Issue of Altruism vs Self-Interest) seems pretty strong.
