So, Navarro has put together my storyform. I want to go a little deeper so here’s what I’m going to do:

  1. go to the original definitions in dramatica book
  2. review each storyform point, check out the dramatica definition, and discuss it with Navarro to see how and why its being applied.
  3. make notes on each point, including my instinctive reactions, then feed it back as a document into the conversation.

this is a rev-up exercise for when I hit the library again in the morning.

I really have never liked ‘Accurate’. Precise/Imprecise is more what it means. ‘Stand roughly there,’ as a professor said in my Wittgenstein class. It’s imprecise but you know what it means.

Or even Roughly Correct/Imprecise.

The nice thing about AI is we don’t have to worry about the words anymore! All we have to make sure is that what is written is pointed in the right direction of the original concept–which is what Dramatica was about all along.

So as long as the embedded vector of a word points in this direction:

  • Accurate (Within tolerances) OR
  • Non-accurate (Outside of tolerances)

Then the semantic meaning is the same.

I love that this was brought up when discussing the element of Accurate! :slight_smile:

It’s not any specific words that are required to be “within tolerances” of the element. We just need to convey the concept itself.

not really my intention. just doing as recommended in the original Dramatica book, throwing out words that make no sense to me and plugging in words that do.–that let me ‘feel’ the quad.

There are a lot of cases where it’s illustrated as Appropriate/Inappropriate (or “Proper/Improper”) – but obviously not all.

I think this is a good argument for having the original terms as a baseline. The level of abstraction keeps you from just plugging it in – you really have to think about what the term means, and what you’re trying to illustrate.

For me, having the original term and then a series of high-level synonyms on hand has been the best way to understand.
