The movie Splash seems to lack a sense of climax. I thought about Dr. Cornbluth and her capture toward the end of the movie, wondering what options might have led to it. Then I recalled she said late in the first half of second act that she has only six "fun filled days" to spend with Alan. Perhaps that's why we see a few periodic shots of the moon between scenes. There's a deleted scene unfortunately not included in the dvd release. Between her finding Alan's passport and coming ashore to the Statue of Liberty, she comes across a sea witch. The sea witch explains somethings to her. Ron Howard mentions in the dvd that this was dropped because the movie could be shown without it. Did that include a time lock giving the six day limit? It's dropped later in the movie? No sense of suspense.
