IC on screen change possible?

Hello,

In the analysis of Frozen and in other instances, I remember hearing / reading that the IC’s change (in a story with a steadfast MC, of course), happens off screen. I’m wondering if this is a hard and fast rule?

In other words, can the IC’s change happen on screen? If so, are there examples one can use as reference?

They can happen on or off. Chris was pointing out that they often happen off-screen (since we’re always seeing things through the eyes of the Main Character … )
