Selecting gists

Hello.

Just a quick question about selecting gists. The software allows you to select more than one gist. But should I illustrate an item with more than one gist? I do notice that the report says “OR” And my first guess is that probably for some items like the story goal it would be better to use only one gist, e.g. “Being Famous”

But how about things like Signposts? Would it be a wise decision to illustrate a Signpost with “Drinking” AND “Fighting” AND “Gambling” AND “Kissing”?

Thanks.

There are a couple of ways to answer this question.

The first is yes, you may use and illustrate multiple gists per story point if they are all appropriate. Each of these story points represent large swaths of story so a single gist is likely insufficient to describe the entirety of a story point.

The second answer is to create your own gist that incorporates elements of the pre-written gists you’ve selected, thereby customizing the gist for your particular story.

Since gists do not end up as part of the content of your storytelling – only indicators to guide your descriptions – you can be as general or descriptive as you find useful in helping you create appropriate illustrations for each story point.
